What should businesses do?
American companies should continue outsourcing in the manufacturing sector so as to stimulate economic growth and create more jobs domestically, but businesses should avoid outsourcing in the services sector and keep white-collar jobs domestic so as to strengthen the middle class as well as the U.S. economy on the whole.
What should politicians do?
Politicians should provide greater tax and financial incentives to entice business owners to keep white-collar jobs domestic, but outsourcing manufacturing jobs will allow companies to cut costs and invest those savings back into the economy, creating better jobs for the American workforce. Finally, politicians should make an active, bipartisan effort to enhance the skills of American workers by investing in academic resources and high-tech ingenuity, which will ensure high-skill, white-collar jobs for Americans in the long run.
What should workers do?
American workers should search for jobs in markets and industries that are still needed by the economy and will not have to be protected by legislation in the future. They should also learn technical skills to make themselves marketable to companies and improve their job prospects. In turn, American workers will be able to find themselves high-paying, high-skill jobs and avoid working in industries that businesses can easily offshore in the future.
