About
About My Project
This project investigates the domestic effects of outsourcing, examining the positive and negative effects of outsourcing from both a business and worker perspective. The project also considers the neutral perspective on outsourcing, which advocates for focusing on building workers’ skills domestically. After analyzing these three perspectives, this site makes its recommendation on how American companies should proceed on outsourcing for the benefit of U.S. businesses, workers, consumers, and politicians. Accounting for these stakeholders, American companies should continue outsourcing in the manufacturing sector in order to stimulate economic growth and create more jobs domestically; however, businesses should avoid outsourcing in the services sector and keep white-collar jobs domestic in order to strengthen the middle class as well as the overall economy.
About Me

My name is Matthew Michaels, a first-year Finance major at the University of Maryland. I conducted this project as part of a semester-long research project for my English 101 class, as I was interested in exploring how businesses, workers, and consumers can come to a consensus on pressing issues such as offshore outsourcing. The wealth of knowledge I gained throughout the research process will be particularly useful as I continue my business studies at the University of Maryland.
